A Night of Love
March 22 @ 4:00 pm - March 23 @ 8:00 am
The Night of Love is an expression of our devotion for our Lord Jesus truly present in the Holy Eucharist. Because the supreme act of Jesus’ love for all of us was wrought on the cross to forgive our sins, so too this Night of Love is a time to personally experience that forgiveness borne to us in the Holy Eucharist by coming to confession. The Sacrament of Penance finds its power in the once and for all offering Christ does for us on the Cross, the same offering we commemorate each time we celebrate the Mass.
Devotion is devotion because it goes the extra mile. Devotion for another pushes us to do marvelous things beyond the usual scope of our daily experience. Coming to spend some quality time with our Lord in the middle of the night is going the extra mile, it is out of the scope of our daily experience. That is the whole point. It is an opportunity to imitate the devotion Jesus had for us when he goes the extra mile for me. The extra mile to even die for me to me right with God.
The beginning of Lent presents an opportune time to give expression of our devotion for Jesus’ sacrifice on my behalf. Start Lent off on a good footing and seek the Lord with devotion.
