Covid-19 School Closure *Updated 11/11/2020*

11/11/2020 Update:

Due to a change in circumstances, we have extended the closure until 11/13/2020.  We are expecting a tentative return date of 11/16/2020, but will keep everyone informed as the situation develops.

Stay healthy and safe!

Dear Saint Michael School Family,

It has just come to our attention that a member of our faculty has tested positive for Covid-19. We have been in consultation with the Lake County Health Department and have begun the process of contact tracing, of which this letter is a significant part. The Health Department has advised that temporarily suspending in-class learning and proceeding with eLearning is the best course of action.

While the risk to students is minimal due to how limited their contact with the positive individual has been; we still feel this is a necessary precaution. Students will be coming home with needed material and books, and the eLearning Plan will be sent home over the weekend.

As you are well aware, we have strictly adhered to all safety practices and protocols, including social distancing, mask usage and routine classroom disinfection. These measures have undoubtedly helped to mitigate viral transmission throughout this pandemic, and should provide you with some solace during this troubling time.
School will transition to eLearning starting on Monday, November 2nd for the coming weeks, with a tentative re-entry on Thursday, November 12, provided no additional faculty members or students exhibit symptoms or test positive for the virus.

The Lake County Health Department strongly recommends you avoid social gatherings, extracurricular activities, and exercise extreme caution when Trick-or-treating.

I will be in regular communication to keep you informed of the latest developments. Fr. Marty and I are incredibly grateful for your patience and understanding during this time. We ask that you offer prayers for the individual infected with this virus, and continue to pray for all those who are sick.

Miss Kennedy and Father Marty
